Among us ~ An Explanation

Many people probably know what Among Us is by now, but I know a lot of people who have no clue what it is or they've just started to get into it. So I'm gonna do my best to explain the game.

Among us was originally made by InnerSloth in 2018, but the game has become viral on YouTube only recently. The game is about astronauts on a spaceship, who have to keep the ship running by playing minigames called "tasks".

There can be up to 10 players in one game, most of which will be a "Crew mate", but one to two of them will be an "Imposter". The Imposters are basically aliens who have infiltrated the ship and have to kill all the Crew Mates.

The Crew Mates' job is to finish their tasks and figure out who the imposter is. If someone stumbles upon a dead Crew Mate's body they can report it and an emergency meeting will begin. You can also call an emergency meeting by pressing a button located near the centre of the map. In these meetings you can report suspicious activity, state your alibis and vote to throw someone off the ship.

The Crew Mates win if they vote off the imposters or finish all their tasks. The Imposter wins if they kill all the Crew Mates.

Here's a drawing to show you what my character looks like. Enjoy :)

Time To Share Some Old Computer Art :3

Hey everyone, I recently stumbled upon some of my old computer art that I thought was worth sharing. I originally made them to turn into stickers or post on instagram, but never got around to doing it. Enjoy!

5 things I thought I'd share

Hey y’all,

Here are 5 things I thought I’d share for today

  1. I started a new art book this week. Hope to share some drawings with you soon. Here’s the title page with my drawing of Totoro, a Studio Ghibli character from the 1988 Japanese animation My Friend Totoro.
  2. I burnt some toast.
  3. I watched Catwoman today. I am working on some fan art of Halle Berry as Catwoman.
  4. Reviewed my previous blog posts from a couple of years ago. Check out my Mini Origami books and How I Made My Baba Yaga hut. :)
  5. Working on more blog posts, so stay tuned!

If you’re seeing this blog for the first time, then Welcome!

FNaF poem and drawing

Hey everyone!

It's been two years since I last posted on this blog. Since then I started high school and started studying music and visual arts. But I've decided to upload more blog posts over the school holidays.

Today I wrote my best explanation of Five Nights At Freddy’s 5th game Sister Location in the form of a poem. I suggest playing (or watching someone play this game) before reading the poem because it might make more sense, but I attempted to explain each line of the poem and what it means.

WARNING: THIS MEANS I WILL BE SPOILING MOST OF THE PLOT TO SISTER LOCATION. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I call this poem Fried Eggs.

Fried Eggs

Eggs Benedict went underground

“Eggs Benedict” is the nickname given to Sister Location’s protagonist, Mike Afton, after the keypad he has access to in the storage facility’s elevator starts to glitch out, making it very difficult to type anything correctly, and proceeds to autocorrect Mike’s name to Eggs Benedict.

Where the haunted animatronics were found.

Some of the animatronics in the storage facility are haunted by the children that William Afton killed. An example of this is Circus Baby, as she is possessed by Elizabeth Afton.

His first night consisted of electric zapping,

During his first night on the job, Mike must check on all the animatronics and make sure they are on stage and performing correctly. If Mike doesn’t see the animatronic on stage, then he must give the surrounding area a strong electric shock, which supposedly triggers the animatronics to return to their stages.

A missing clown child and a robotic kidnapping.

“Clown child” is referring to Circus Baby, the main Antagonist of the game, who doesn’t appear at her stage after several electric shocks. The “robotic kidnapping” is referring to the story of how Elizabeth Afton is killed by Circus Baby. We hear about this when we are hiding from circus baby under a desk.

There he met a ballerina and a fabulous fox,

The Ballerina animatronic is called Ballora and the fabulous fox is referring to Funtime Foxy.

A bear and a baby with the body of a box.

The bear is referring to Funtime Freddy and the baby with the body of a box is once again a description of Circus Baby and her appearance.

He ate some popcorn and watched his favourite show,

At the end of each night Mike returns home to watch “The Immortal and The Restless”, a show that is actually a metaphor of his parents’ relationship.

Then on to the next night he decided to go.

Segue into the story of night two.

The ballerina with dark blue hair

Once again a description of Ballora,

Could not see, but was very aware.

Ballora cannot see, but that has just made her ability to hear extremely strong.

He crept past her stage and kept his head low,

In Sister Location, Mike must sneak past her stage via a tunnel leading to Circus Baby’s Auditorium.

Then the bear and the fox put on a show.

“The bear” and “the fox” once again referring to Funtime Freddy and Funtime Foxy, who share a performance area.

They hid in the darkness and taunted poor Egg,

When Mike has to fix the electricity in the facility, he must also avoid the Funtime animatronics jump-scare.

To make him pray and wish and beg.

This line’s sole purpose is to rhyme with Egg.

Across the third and the fourth gloomy night

Way of combining some of the events of the third and fourth night because I was running out of room on the page.

He was captured in a suit and locked in tight.

The Scooping Room is the room where the insides of animatronics are literally scooped out. This is where Mike is trapped inside a spare animatronic exoskeleton.

Ghosts and ghouls told him stories and tales how they were killed, his skin turned pale.

The animatronics, mainly Circus Baby, pretend to be the spirits of the dead children and want to help Mike, but are really luring him to the scooping room again.

The fifth night gave him a nasty surprise,

Wow ok almost at the end of the game now.

Hidden behind a masked disguise.

The “masked disguise” is actually a mask we see hanging on the wall at the control room between Ballora’s stage and the Funtime animatronics stage.

A monster made of wires, a party hat on his head,

The monster is actually a combination of all the scooped out insides of Circus Baby, Ballora, Funtime Freddy and Funtime Foxy. They collectively call themselves Ennard.

Scooped up Eggs insides, just like that he was dead.

They scoop him in the scooping room, with the intention of wearing his skin as a suit to escape the storage facility disguised as Mike.

Thanks for reading! ~S

Tracey Emin's Distance Of Your Heart

Hey ya! It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded to this blog (18 months to be precise) so I am now eleven! I still love art and I’m about to tell you how I found out about an awesome artwork displayed it Sydney.

When my mum and I were walking to Circular Quay from the Art Gallery of NSW we spotted the Obelisk of Distances (find out about the obelisk here), it looked interesting so we went to have a closer look. When we got closer we saw something on the railing around the obelisk. It looked like a small metal clump, but when I went to see what it was it appeared to be a small metal bird. Then mum said, ‘I think that’s Tracey Emin’s artwork’. Mum had seen a recording of a lecture about this artwork.

The first bird we saw (July 2018)
The next day we searched online for info on the artwork, and found a video on the City of Sydney website about it. It turns out the City of Sydney chose Tracey’s idea for the artwork from 700 entries to be displayed in a public spot. The artwork is called The Distance Of Your Heart. The idea was to have about 70 small bronze birds placed around Bridge Street and Grosvenor Street, near Circular Quay. After I watched the video, I searched for photos of some of the birds and there surroundings on the computer, then I took photos of the computer screen with the phone and took note of the objects around them. I now had portable notes that showed me what to look out for.

My notes (July 2018)

You can use these notes too.
Can you find this bird near Macquarie Square?
We then walked down Bridge street to see if we could find any. We found our first birds on the roof of the Museum of Sydney. Then we saw a few next to doorways and ledgers, on buildings and lamp posts. We counted about 10 the first day, then we went back the next day and looked for them again. We have found 22 birds in total so far.

Can you find these birds too?

Here's a clue, there are 6 of them.

The bird bath says, 'The Distance of Your Heart'.

I think this is a great idea for an artwork because it also doubles as a treasure hunt for kids.

It feels great to get back to blogging and I hope I’ll be seeing you soon, S.

Christmas Update

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I haven’t updated on this blog for a while so on this post I’m going to roundup all the things I have done between now and my last post.

12/11/16
The 12th of November was my 10th birthday and it just so happens that the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) was having their 25th Anniversary cake cutting on the same day! And since they are quite famous they got the PM (the Prime Minister) to cut the cake! And since it was my B-day they got me to cut the cake with him! If you are one of my close friends then you have probably heard this story before.

4/12/16
On the 4th of December the Kids Committee had a christmas party where we played games, had christmas lunch and of course made art. It was really fun and if you have an arty family I recommend that you join the Kids Committee in 2017.

20/12/16
On the 20th of December my mum, my mum’s friend’s family and I went to the Sydney fireworks at Darling Harbour. They looked very arty with all the lights and the water below.

I hope you enjoyed today's post. Wishing you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year,S.

New stuff at MCA

Hi everyone! Last Sunday my mum and I went to the MCA for a Kids Committee meeting about the Family Tours of the exhibition Today Tomorrow Yesterday and to try the Family Space that is based on a new exhibition called Tatsuo Miyajima: Connect With Everything. Tatsuo Miyajima is the first exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere for this artist. It's about numbers counting down from 9. At the end of it, it left me wondering.
In the Family Space there is a room which has white circles on the floor that you jump on and when you jump on them they make a sound and draw a line on a screen and if you jump on them a lot the lines form a big prism. At a particular point the room goes dark and the white circles turn into lily pads and a recording of a guided meditation comes on and if you move on the lily pads they change colour but if you stay still they stay the same. In another room there is a magnet board where you can arrange magnets to create numbers and there is a camera that takes a picture of the magnet board every 9 seconds and plays the pictures really fast to make a stop motion film. In the same room as the magnet board there are tables where you can make light drawings by punching holes into a black circle of paper and you can contribute your light drawing to a shadow constellation by hanging it up with everyone else’s in a hallway near the room or you can take it home. And if you want to find out about the Family Tours or you want to book for one (if the tickets haven't sold out already) go here.

I recommend going to TodayTomorrow Yesterday.
I hope you liked this week's post. See you next time, S.
PS. I'm one of the two voices that you might hear for this exhibition on the MCA app!
